The first generation. Dave Ott's grandfather and father begin building together, the start of the family trade that becomes Dottco, three generations later.

The family business, in print. The Sacramento Bee photographs the Otts at Morgan Hills, Longview Builders, patriarch Mervin Ott, and a young David Ott already on site. By then, the family had been building for over two decades.
